Art Created In Support Of A Worthy Cause
Most of John Lyons' clients and income comes from women. Thus John, with a background in ministry, counselling victims of trauma and medical science, ardently supports and protects the role of women in society. He has created, donated and sold art for specific causes and charitable goals, most of which have been in support of women's causes. Please contact John Lyons, if you have a cause and consider he may be able to assist you.
Highlighting Public Violence Against Women (sold)
"Caged" (Sold via Moss Art Gallery, Norway. Supporting a Refuge for Survivors of Domestic Violence)
Created to highlight the plight of women suffering violence in domestic abuse. This was a pen and ink sketch of a woman crouched in fear, overlaid with distressed paper bars symbolising the prison of her marriage. This was displayed and SOLD at the Moss Art Gallery in Norway, in support of a local charity working with these women. John Lyons had been approached and invited to submit a piece by the organiser, whom he knew through Twitter.
"Anonymous Object of Desire" (currently available for sale, £300)
A creation to start conversation. This shows a reclining woman, after breast augmentation surgery. The artwork is turned by ninety degrees and thus she appears to be hanging. Her identity is obscured by facial bandaging. Is this picture comfortable to view? It shouldn't be. This is willow-charcoal, on bright yellow sugar paper. The view shown here is a suggested crop down from the full artwork which is 30"x22" approx. This work is currently available for sale. Further detail and other potential crops are shown in the slideshow below.
